Dr. Melanie Birnbaum, lyric soprano, has performed all over the U.S. and Europe. She is at home on both the concert and operatic stage. She holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts from SUNY Stony Brook, a Master of Music from the Manhattan School of Music, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from SUNY Purchase.

Melanie has been teaching for over 30 years, and served as a professor of voice at Five Towns College for the Performing Arts in Dix Hills, NY.

​

Dr. Birnbaum is located in Smithtown, NY. She is available for lessons at her studio or in your home. She gives voice and piano lessons to students of all ages and levels. All styles of music are welcome! She has worked with students interested in classical, opera, musical theatre, pop, jazz, rock, folk, and R&B.

​

In addition to being a NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) All-State adjudicator for voice and piano, she is also a member of the SPTF (Suffolk Piano Teachers Forum), SCMEA (Suffolk County Music Educators Association), and NAME (National Association for Music Education).

​

Dr. Birnbaum prepares students for auditions and competitions. Some of these include: NYSSMA, opera auditions, Broadway to local musical theatre productions, American Idol, America's Got Talent, and The Voice.

​

She is dedicated to her students' progress and success.
